Ok, so this strip cracked me up. Yeah, I know it’s a fart joke.
Originally, the duck-crab… or crab-duck… was going to carry on a whole conversation of farts that Rodney would have to inhale to translate. I think that would work in an animated cartoon, but it would just be way too many panels in a comic strip.
As well, the last fart was going to be just a fart. And that would be the punch line.
But in paring things down, I thought it’d be funny if the translation was exactly what you’d expect a duck to say… “Quack”.
The sub-joke is that farts sound like ducks quacking anyway.
Maybe it WAS just a fart!
